Changes to the English entry requirements for 2019 GIS applicants

GIS has changed the criteria for English in both the General Examination and the Special Examination applications for 2019 admissions. The revised external English examination standards are as follows:

1. GIS General Entrance Examination (April Admission)
– STEP (Eiken): 1st grade
– TOEIC (L & R + S & W): 1180 or more
* For TOEFL and IELTS, the application criteria remains the same

2. GIS Special Examination (April Admission)
(1) S standard
– TOEFL iBT: 90 points or more (Writing 23 points or more)
– IELTS: 6.5 or higher (writing 6.0 or higher)
* For the IB (International Baccalaureate), the application criteria remains the same

(2) A standard
TOEFL iBT: 80 points or more
TOEIC L & R: 860 points or more
* for Eiken and IELTS, the application criteria remains the same

(3) B standard has been withdrawn.

GIS General Entrance Examination (April Admission): in early November
GIS Special Entrance Examination (April Admission): During July
GIS Special Entrance Examination (September Admission): During October
