Pushing the Boundaries of Anime Conceptualization

In April we were delighted to welcome Dr. Stevie Suan to the department as one of our new Assistant Professors. On November 17, he presented his paper “Anime Out-of-Place: Towards a Transnational Approach to Analyzing Anime” at the international symposium “Theorizing Anime: Invention of Concepts and Conditions of Their Possibility,” held at Waseda University. If you’re interested in similar topics, please check out Dr. Suan’s 200-level class “Asian Popular Culture” and 300-level class “Media and Globalization.”
