New GIS Curriculum

To ensure that GIS students continue to receive the highest educational standards in accordance with global advances in instruction practices, GIS has developed a new curriculum for our department. Integrating over 200 courses, the new GIS Liberal Arts Program maintains our small, interactive classes, and is built upon 3 core fields to prepare our students for the challenges of the 21st century: Social Sciences, Humanities, and Management Sciences. Spanning 30 disciplines, GIS students build core knowledge in their 100-level courses, applying theories and methodologies across fields in their 200-level courses, then focus in-depth on particular issues in their 300-level courses, before finally moving on to 400-level seminars to gain specialized skills. Taught all in English, GIS students receive an interdisciplinary education that provides them with the tools to chart their own futures in their professional careers after graduation.
