On February 28th, the university honoured the winners of this year’s Essay Contest. Among them were 3 GIS students: Momone Hosokawa, Minami Tsuboi and Hikari Suzuki. Impressively, all are from Professor Khor’s ‘Intersectionality’ seminar. Even more impressively, Hikari won the Grand Prize, writing her essay on ‘Is University Campus Gendered? The Experiences of Transgender Students in Japan’. Minami’s essay was on the image and representations of foreigners, while Momone focused on fast fashion and worker exploitation. Congratulations to you all! The department is very proud of you!
