GIS Professor Youyung Hyun Receives Best Paper Award

GIS is proud to announce that our new faculty member, Professor Youyung Hyun, collected the best paper award at the KMIS (Korea Society of Management Information Systems) International Conference in November 2021. The research paper, “When My OriHime Went to Work: Representational Fidelities of a Tele-Operated Robot,” focuses on a unique Tokyo cafe where disabled employees, who have great difficulty in physically leaving their homes, remotely control robots to chat with and serve real customers. Professor Hyun and her research partner investigated the employees’ virtual experience and proposed a framework that hypothesized how OriHime can help improve both engagement and performance. The paper received deserved recognition for this engaging perspective on a cutting-edge robotic work environment in society.

Congratulations to Youyung for her exemplary research!
