Welcome to the department of Global and Interdisciplinary Studies. Here at Hosei University’s Ichigaya Campus in the center of Tokyo, GIS students can experience a rich and rewarding interdisciplinary education in the English language. Classes are taught by experienced professors from around the world, whose research covers a range of topics and disciplines. GIS offers a challenging and rewarding academic curriculum to better develop students’ global perspectives and critical thinking. In the culturally diverse environment of GIS, students not only grow intellectually, but through participating in a dynamic and interactive setting, learn practical problem-solving skills in a variety of fields.

Taught entirely in English, GIS students develop a high level of language ability, providing them with the tools to operate on the world stage. To gain the most out of their time at GIS, students have to meet our demanding English language requirements, such as achieving TOEFL iBT: 90+ (Special exam – S standard), IELTS: 6.5+ (Special exam – S standard), and IB Diploma (Special exam – S standard).

Graduates from GIS leave the department fully prepared to tackle global and domestic issues, many of them gaining employment at international corporations in Japan and abroad, attaining careers in education, business ventures and start-ups, or continuing their academic learning through overseas graduate study.
